| Maha Shivratri
Maha Shivratri literally means “the great night of
Lord Shiva.” Maha Shivratri celebrations are marked by a number of
rituals and fasting that go on through the entire day as well as the
night. Offerings of panchamrut comprising of milk, honey,
water, ghee and curd along with bel leaves, flowers, etc. are made on
the shivlinga amidst chants of ‘Om Namah Shivay.’ Shivratri may be a
festival where main ritual is fasting, but the consumption of certain
foods is permitted during this period. Milk, fruits, potatoes and some
other selected ingredients can be consumed. Think innovatively and you
will be able to put together several dishes that are made using only
